Maiwand Kabob - Hanover, MD

When we moved to the area, we realized that it was not as culinary diversified until the new shopping center opened up at the end of our neighborhood. Maiwand Kabob in Hanover, MD satisfies our desire for delicious Middle Eastern food. We have tried many different Middle Eastern restaurants and have found this place serves up delicious Afghan food.

Maiwand offers many different appetizers. Our favorites include the Pumpkin and Samosas:

Sweet chunks of pumpkin is topped with yogurt and ground beef. There is not enough to share. The Samosas are served fresh and piping hot. The crispy pastries are filled with potatoes and green peas that are spiced to perfection. Dip these into the green chili puree sauce.

Maiwand offers daily specials but we love to order a different combination of the Kofta Kabob (seasoned ground beef), Chicken Kabob and Lamb Kabob entrees every time we visit. Each entree is served with tandoori bread, rice, salad, and cilantro yogurt sauce. We are rice eaters and request to substitute the salad for another serving of rice. The tandoori bread is cooked onsite and the meats are skewered and cooked on a special grill. For those that like it spicy hot like us, they have sliced jalapenos and sriracha (Thai hot sauce) to further zip up your meal.
